    Afghanistan contact

    Monday, May 5, 2008, 09:05 AM [General]

My son, Sean, who is in the army, left for Afghanistan around the middle of March and I hadn't heard a word from him, until yesterday. I was scanning through emails and when I came across his, I was amazed, shocked, grateful, thankful, and yes, brought to tears of joy. The email was very short, but that didn't natter at all. He has never been a very good writer. The most contact we have ever had was when he was deployed to Iraq. There he had internet and we would talk for an hour or more several times a week. But this deployment is not the same.

The barracks, or whatever he is suppose to be living in are not yet finished being built. He is living in a tent and to his dismay and mine, the tent is not furnished with internet capabilities. He also said that the FOB (forward operation base) where he is living is very boring. Why? Because it has not been attacked for 34 months. He calls it boring, I simply call it a huge blessing! He's okay, doing fine and looking to be home in over a year. The time will drag by for both of us. But please keep him in your prayers & meditations!

    Blessings.
